Position based in Los Angeles, CA
Major Entertainment Company is seeking a Video Operations Specialist to join the Product Development team in Los Angeles, CA to lead video operations for our Digital Networks. The Specialist, Video Operations will coordinate the timely delivery of the Digital Networks Group’s video content across a diverse range of broadband and online partners, businesses, and consumer initiatives. The individual will oversee the on-boarding and maintenance of all new and existing online partners, while working closely with key internal business stakeholders (e.g., programming, sales, marketing, and operations) to ensure that key delivery dates are met consistently and without issue.
The individual will be responsible for analyzing, scheduling, implementing, and providing feedback on the operational requirements of all the Digital Networks Group’s online video initiatives.
The appropriate candidate must effectively demonstrate technical proficiency, obsessive organizational, scheduling, and follow-up skills, understanding of the online marketplace, strategic leadership, and tactical management of resources in order to process, troubleshoot, deliver, and meet product and sales objectives. Experience on-boarding a major content provider across a diverse range of online partners is a must. This role reports to the Manager of Video Operations based in Los Angeles.
RESPONSIBILITES
•Work directly with key business stakeholders to deliver market leading online video products to a diverse range of broadband and online partners
•Document online and mobile submissions processes, workflows and partner specifications, communicating such specifications to management so that all business and programming requirements are met across all affiliated partners
•Create, publish and maintain digital networks “run book,” incorporating changes in processes and workflows to ensure full transparency of the digital networks group’s online and mobile operations
•Work with and provide feedback to supporting business units at Sony Pictures Entertainment as new systems, processes, and corporate-level workflows are developed, ensuring that the digital networks group’s operational requirements are clearly communicated
•Analyze, interpret and apply technical delivery specifications to broadband and online video initiatives with the ability to troubleshoot and communicate any potential issues that may affect key launch or promotional dates
•Upload, ingest and quality check content per partners’ detailed specifications including, but not limited to, use of RSS, XML and Web-based tools to expedite ingestion
•Distribute content to publishing partners per partners’ deliverable specs (may include video asset, image, xml metadata, etc.)
•Provide regular follow-up with internal business stakeholders and online partners to ensure timely delivery of product
•Provide regular reports on status of live content across all broadband and online distribution outlets;
•Work with partner accounts manager(s) to roadmap and deliver features, specials and promotions for all broadband and online video initiatives
•Work with Directors of Product Development and Operations to provide feedback on and implementation of scalable workflow solutions
•Continually monitor the status of live campaigns to ensure a high quality end-user experience
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
•4+ years experience in new media, audio, video and/or interactive consumer entertainment products, preferably with a background in online entertainment
•Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese
•2+ years hands-on experience on-boarding content to broadband and online partner sites such as Hulu, YouTube and PlayStation
•Advanced knowledge of standard metadata formats such as xls, xml, rss, and mrss
•Advanced knowledge of web-based file transfer tools: Aspera, sftp and ftp
•Advanced knowledge of digital media formats, standards and coedecs such as 3GP, MP4, Real Media, QuickTime, and Windows Media as well as strong knowledge of mobile/online encoding standards relating to sampling rates, frame rates, key frames and aspect ratios
•Knowledge of transcoding tools, processes and profile creation
•Strong demonstrated experience working with metadata feeds (RSS, XML, etc.) and web-based user interfaces, such as the Crackle Rights Management system
•Strong demonstrated experience working on both Mac and PC platforms
•Experience on-boarding video initiatives for tier-one US mobile carriers (e.g., Verizon, Sprint and AT&T Wireless)
•Strong knowledge of administrative software applications: MS Office Applications, (i.e., MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
•Exceptional organizational, media management, and media cataloguing skills (strong project management abilities required)
•Highly motivated team member with a proven track record of successfully on-boarding video initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
•Must be a creative thinker with a passion for video and digital entertainment while also demonstrating strong problem solving skills
•Requires close collaboration with functional departments (including, but not limited to, product development, digital networks, programming and marketing) to ensure world-class management of all online video initiatives
